Long Weekends 2027 in India
India has 17 central government holidays in 2027, and 6 of them fall on a weekend, so they give you nothing extra. The rest can be turned into proper breaks: 4 need no leave at all, and with up to three leave days you can get 9 days off in a row. Pick your weekly offs and how much leave you can spare, and see exactly which days to take.

Questions people ask
How many long weekends are there in India in 2027?
If you have Saturday and Sunday off, 4 holidays line up with a weekend to give a break of three days or more without using any leave: Fri 26 Mar to Sun 28 Mar (Good Friday), Sat 17 Apr to Mon 19 Apr (Mahavir Jayanti), Sat 15 May to Mon 17 May (Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid)) and Fri 29 Oct to Sun 31 Oct (Diwali). Using up to three leave days around the other holidays gives 8 stretches of 4 to 9 days in all.
Which 2027 holidays fall on a weekend?
6 of the 17 central government holidays land on a Saturday or Sunday in 2027, so they add no extra day off: Independence Day, Milad-un-Nabi (Id-e-Milad), Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday, Dussehra, Guru Nanak's Birthday and Christmas Day. Under the central list there is no substitute day when a holiday falls on a weekly off.
What is the best way to stretch leave in 2027?
The best return is Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti: 1 leave day (Fri 16 Apr) gives 5 days off in a row, Thu 15 Apr to Mon 19 Apr. The planner above shows every option for every holiday, and what each leave day buys you.
Are these dates final?
The dates come from the central government holiday list for 2027 issued in July 2026. The dates of Id-ul-Fitr, Id-ul-Zuha, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi depend on the sighting of the moon and can move by a day, and some calendars place Holi on 22 March instead of 23 March. Check your employer's notice before you book anything that cannot be changed.
Do state holidays change the plan?
Yes. This list is the central government's, which many employers follow. States and companies publish their own lists and add regional festivals such as Onam, Pongal or Durga Puja. Use "Add your own holiday" above to include yours and the breaks update.
